Reference manual

An overview of how Halo 2000 2.3.0 works, covering the hardware-style control surface introduced in the September 2026 remake. The full control-by-control manual is being finished and will land here; this page covers the essentials in the meantime.

01 · Programmes, echo and delay

PROGRAM A to D, ECHO/DLY 1 and 2

The PROGRAM column holds four complete reverbs, A through D, each with its own reverb time, size, character and early-reflection level. The ECHO/DLY column runs alongside it with two echo slots and two delay slots. DELAY SYNC locks the delays to your DAW tempo, and PING-PONG alternates the repeats across the stereo field when it's on.

02 · The parameter grid and DATA ENTRY

Select, then key in or dial

Every parameter sits in one grid: REVERB TIME (0 to 9.9), PRE DLY (0 to 255), SIZE, CHAR, E.RFL LEVEL (0 to 0.9) and E.RFL DELAY (0 to 255) for early reflections, SUB REV LEVEL (0 to 0.9) and SUB REV DELAY (0 to 255) for the sub reverb voice, REV LEVEL, DRY/WET (0 to 100), OUT LEVEL, WIDTH, DETUNE, LFO RATE, IN LINK, LOW TILT, T1 (0 to 999), T2 (0 to 499), K1 (0 to 0.9), K2 (0 to 0.9), DLY LEVEL, REV TAIL and MOD DEPTH (0 to 100). Select a parameter, then either key its value straight into the DATA ENTRY pad and press ENTER, or dial it from the panel the way you would on a hardware unit.

03 · Low cut, high cut and RT frequency range

Shaping the tail before it reaches you

LOW CUT (30, 50, 100 or 200 Hz) and HIGH CUT (2.5k, 5k, 10k or 13k Hz) trim the reverb's frequency extremes independently. RT LOW FREQ RANGE and RT HIGH FREQ RANGE then scale how long the low and high bands ring relative to the main reverb time (x0.5 to x2.0 on the low side, x0.25 to x1.0 on the high side), so a bright room and a dark one can share the same core decay time and still behave very differently.

04 · Preset library and memory

Named states, recalled by A to D

The PRESET LIBRARY browses, steps and saves full panel states by name: BROWSE, PREV, NEXT and SAVE. MEMORY's WRITE, READ, UP and DOWN work the same way per PROGRAM or ECHO/DLY slot, so A through D and ECHO/DLY 1 and 2 each keep their own setting independently. VINTAGE OUT colours the output stage, and CURVES opens the frequency-response view for whatever's currently selected.

05 · Metering

Headroom, read at the input

The HEADROOM lamps read the signal going into the engine, not the softened output, so they warn you before it's driven hard rather than after. Four lamps, red on the last one.

06 · Getting it

Free, direct download, no key

Halo 2000 is free, for macOS and Windows. Choose your platform on the product page and the download starts. No name, no email address, no licence key, no trial period and no account. On Windows you may see a SmartScreen warning before installing, since the build isn't code-signed yet; choose "More info", then "Run anyway" to continue.

More detail is coming

A full walkthrough of every control is being written and will appear on this page. Until then, questions are welcome at info@wearemey.com.
